MultiversityLibrary.com offers scholars,
intellectuals, teachers and students from Asia, Africa and South
America electronic access to some of the most significant literature
produced by people of colour.
Despite our collective political independence from colonial rule, people
in the Global South are still unable to access each other’s work
with any degree of facility or ease. Whatever little literature is available
in the published domain is restricted to the three individual continents
or worse, specific countries within these three continents. Contrast
this situation with the intellectual output of scholars and writers from
the North: their books and titles are available not only across the North,
but in the South as well, where they unfortunately tend to dominate academic
and intellectual life.
MultiversityLibrary.com is the first serious effort originating from
the Global South to promote and publicise the works of scholars from
the three major continents of Asia, Africa and Latin America, so that
these are known and made available across the board. The site is fully
non-commercial and no economic benefits accrue to the persons that manage
the site. We are hoping to provide the same service for films from these
three continents as well.
